Puppies Born 1/29/19
Duke and Louie flew to their new home near Charlotte North Carolina this week. They moved in with the litter at Deb’s house for a few days since she would be flying with them from San Diego. They were great on the flight and they seemed to remember Sheila and Steve, their new parents, as they had come to California to visit them earlier. Purple girl, Nikki, sent a photo of herself practicing her “show stacking” skills. We did not receive a photo from Yellow girl, Winnie, in her new home yet.
At the beginning of the week we took the pups to get their microchips. They are very good in the car and they did not complain about getting poked with their microchips. All of Sparkles pups have families now and they will begin going to their new homes over the next few weeks.
As we enter week 8, the pups are being evaluated to see who might make the best “show prospects”. It’s so hard to tell. As breeders, we look for so many things and are now down to picking tiny little differences in conformation and temperament. By next week we should have a pretty good idea which ones we are going to bet on for show. Most pups in these litters are show prospects but we only have a few show families, so we are being super picky. So far in Sparkles litter, Purple girl is on hold for show and her siblings have already been assigned to their new homes.
The pups had more visitors this week and they cried for every opportunity to be outside. Playtime was more aggressive and so much fun to watch.
The puppies got their first haircuts this week…they look like little doggies now…instead of hamsters!
This week we introduced real food and the puppies are playing with small toys and getting more stable on their feet.
