About Us

Lily Lee founded Lotus Bichons in Southern California in 2014, four years after she received a gift of a Bichon Frise puppy.  Having experienced all kinds of health issues with her bichon puppy, Lily set out on a mission to promote Bichon Frise's health using a holistic approach and to share her experiences with others.  Lily joined the Bichon Frise Club of San Diego in order to gain more in depth insight into the breed.  Deb Gibb, President of the club and partner with Linda Rowe and Hollyhock Bichons became her mentors and guided her in extending her knowledge in improving the health and longevity of bichons.  They also helped her acquire her next bichons and she began showing them in conformation events in 2016.

Lily Lee's breeding dogs are all AKC Champions and Grand Champions.  Lily is developing Lotus Bichons in a way that she hopes will follow the “best practices” of breeding that she has learned from her Hollyhock Bichon mentors and from other highly respected bichon breeders.  Lily is dedicated to improving the breed using minimal vaccination protocols, whole food nutrition and only breeding with others that follow formal OFA health testing.

Manuel Hernandez of Golden Bay Bichons in Oakland, CA joined Lotus Bichons in 2020 after Lily moved from Southern California to Kirkland, WA.  Manuel Hernandez is a member of both Bichon Frise Club of San Diego and Bichon Frise Club of Northern California while Lily also joined the Bichon Frise Club of Puget Sound in Washington State, hence they have been fortunate to also be mentored by Sue Swindle, Karen Paulson and Sheri Kennedy of Absolutely Bichons.

We are proud to participate in the AKC Bred With H.E.A.R.T program and we only breed OFA health-tested bichons.

Our Bichon Frise puppies are raised in Lily’s home in Kirkland, WA and in Manuel Hernandez’s home in Oakland, CA.  Puppies are not placed until they are 10-14 weeks old and they are reared using Early Neurological Stimulation, natural handling, environmental enrichment, and a wealth of socialization opportunities before sending them off to their forever homes. Priority for puppy placement is given to current and former Bichon Frise owners and to owners wanting to work with their Bichon Frise to achieve their conformation, agility, obedience, therapy or other titles.
